CB  Radio!

A CB radio is a fun way to pass the time when caravanning with more than one vehicle on a youth trip.  We've often used a pair of them to keep from getting separated (put one at the head of the line and one at the tail), to arrange stops and communicate directions, to chat, and to play games in which each vehicle was a team. Below are a list of the standard codes and terms used by CBers. You can even make up your own code meanings when the 10-code numbers have no standard meaning.  Keep in mind, though that FCC rules mandate that the codes be used only to make communication easier and shorter.  Codes may not be used to deliberately confuse the meaning of your speech to other listeners.

Try to find a cannel which is not in use.  For courtesy's sake, give the frequency a rest every few minutes, so that other CBers can use the channel if neccesary.  Also, if you intend to talk for an extended time, stay off channel 19, because truckers use the channel constantly and try to reserve it for trucker use.  They could be pretty upset if you tie up their standard frequency, especially if they know you're a church group.

Something else to let your kids know about:  Singing, whistling, profanity, or any transmission of silly or annoying sounds is illegal.  Please don't do it.
Have a good time!  It can really be fun!
